He thought Linda's knitting made a nice little nest!
Our favorite Greek Goddess Salad is back! We forgot to say "no onions." Still: Yum!!
Every day, my 12th grade twins give me a toy to bring to work. I send home pictures of how the toy is "helping" me, and then save them to this blog. (OK, obviously, we are not really doing this anymore. Teenagers, amiright?) It definitely makes work more fun. For me -- I can't speak for the poor toy. Please do not use any of my images or writing without contacting me for permission.

7/11 - Santa Bear is well-dressed for July
I think I should've worn a hat today -- it's freezing out there! I also should've brought my cold medicine in. Whoopsie. At least there's a drugstore on the way into work.
Santa Bear counts the candles... Actually, he didn't get to count the candles, because my team surprised me! I thought it was a regular meeting! (I think all meetings should have cake, don't you?)
David took me to see POTC --in 3D-- but first we stopped for some yummy pizza. Yes, those are padron peppers, carmelized onions, and sweet corn. NOM!

AND! Lil' Guy lost his second bottom front tooth this morning!!

7/10 - Happy birthday to me!
It was my birthday yesterday. Aside from a minor freakout when I realized I'd thought I was my new age all throughout last year (early senility?), it was a nice family celebration. I wanted to go to a local roller derby bout, but I still have the wretched cold, and Mama has it full throttle. So... we kept it low key. Lil' Gal and I folded the laundry/wore it on our heads.
Lil' Guy's toys kept a careful watch.
The kids picked out celebratory balloons for me, and insisted I be given roses.
No, it wasn't the kids that decorated the cake, but Mama sure did her best. The "ugly cake" tasted great.
Best, of all, per my request, the cr*p from our side yard is finally going out. This includes the ratty desk that came with the house and has been sitting outside getting rained on for 2 years. Bye!!

7/08 - Meena loves safety -- and cake!
After my safety class graduates today, we get to eat cake! Yay! Meena loves cake. (Me too.)
We got to play with fire extinguishers! Whoooosssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Here's my NERT cert. (Why do people keep saying they knew I was a NERT all along?)
Bonus fun: My work friends punk'd my cube for my birthday! They really know how to derby it up!

7/07 - Quake gets Piratitude
Piratitude* climbed to the top of the Giant Book Mountain and found all kinds of button booty. Yarrrrrr!
At first, Piratitude thought he'd been grabbed by the Kraaken, but it was just Quake playing a little joke and turning him upside down. (Unrelated: Lil' Guy is also upside down on the couch behind them.)
* Lil' Guy's name for him!

7/06 - Snoopy the Peg Legged
I don't know why all the Snoopys at our house end up missing a foot, but this is the case. It's usually the left foot, but this poor Snoopy is a double amputee.
Here's a guest post from David, who was actually not sick and at work today. Lucky David?
Hi Lil' Guy and Lil' Gal,
See how blurry the car is – not because I am a bad photographer, but because it is going sooo fast across my desk! Honest! But can you still read the numbers? Maybe! Have a lovely day!
Love, David.

7/05 - Dragon is not one bit holi-dazed
Valentine Dragon could easily attend 4 more parades in a heatwave -- what's wrong with the rest of us?
Look at my new mouse guards! Oh. You thought it was going to be some kind of technical gadget? Nope. Just my friends Cheetah and Martha. Go ahead -- try to touch my mouse. Make their day.
Meanwhile, PigPig is pretty on pink (tissues). (Me, not so pretty during these days of the plague.)
Which reminds me, Lil' Gal is *starting* to get the hang of jokes:
What did the pig say to the oink?
Don't pig me out!

7/04 - Happy 4th of July!
My cold is still raging, and I've had to cancel or scale back on all the plans I had for my much-anticipated 5-day weekend. I'd like to say I'm being all Zen about it, but I'm really not. Mommy is cranky.
Sick or not, I was not going to keep the kids from enjoying the holiday. First, I put the kids to work prepping mint from our garden for the mint juleps. (Is that wrong?) They took their job very seriously and it was awesome (as were the juleps!).
We sniffled our way through the always nice Alameda 4th of July Parade, and enjoyed seeing Suzanne and hanging out with Linda, who we later kidnapped and brought home to our BBQ. We were joined by Kathleen and Chuck.
I made Amish Cole Slaw, my mom's potato salad, and my famous portobello mushrooms. Mama grilled them up, along with zucchini, burgers and chicken breasts. The twins and Chuck had virgin juleps, made with the mint-infused simple syrup and sparkling water. We also enjoyed the slightly melted cupcakes from the other day. What a feast!

7/01 - Outdoor tea party with friends
Today, Kevin and Vanessa came over to play. It was a hot day, and we found a nice shady spot under the plum tree that was perfect for a tea party.
And! We spotted two plums! (That's one more fruit than the nectarine tree is sporting, for those of you keeping score at home.)
We also enjoyed my 4th of July cupcakes. NOM!
