Summer Vacation 2013: Philly Feeding Frenzy

(Yes, we made it back from vacation.  Seems I had a few photos to go through.  Ahem.)

One of our first adventures was feeding some friendly horses -- and a cute little pony.  The very cute donkeys would not come over, but we had plenty of fun without them.

Then we fed some ducks, who were quite happy about that.

This tree also seemed hungry, but we had no idea what to feed him.

We found our first of many cicada shells, which totally creeped Lil' Guy out.  But not for long.  Stay tuned on the bug front.

Finally, it was time to feed US!  It has been decades since I've had a Friendly's sundae.  NOM.

5/21 - Space Horse longs to run with the herd

Space Horse thought this baby bulldozer was a space ship, and wondered why it didn't just fly up and out of its barricage.

This horse friend was also tethered.  Poor Space Horse, always running solo.

3/04 - Alienist takes a ride on the Pony Express

Jenifer and I found some history during our lunch walk.  These signs show the spot where the Pony Express first came to San Francisco.

11/02 - Space Horse and the book butterflies

Space Horse and I wondered what we would find at lunch today.  We found flying books!  Or bookish butterflies.

Rob took us to his favorite sandwich shop, where they put the French fries and cole slaw *on* the sandwich, Pittsburgh style.  His had meat, while mine had two fried eggs and cheese.  Good thing Space Horse helped me eat some of the cole slaw.  But we are still too full…

3/01 - Spot and the kingpin

Spot stoically faces the rain:  This was our morning commute – cold and drizzly.  It was raining sideways on the train platform!

We didn't walk around or go out for lunch -- it was all windowless work.  But after work, we joined my new derby team for a skate clinic.  Shadow Soldier taught us all about skate parts and how to take them apart.  I can now say with confidence that I've found my bearings and my bushings are in good shape.

1/06 - David tries fishing with Squeaky Toy

Apparently, all he can catch are large frogs!

Look!  Squeaky Toy caught a horse.  We were NOT expecting that!

10/20 - Tiny Blue Giraffe finds a little too much urban nature

Tiny Blue Giraffe is ready for Halloween.  She likes the pumpkin Lil' Guy made for me. I do too – I brought it in to decorate my desk at work.  :)

Tiny Blue Giraffe found a black horse in the alley.  (Special thanks to David’s guest fingers for helping.)

The froggie fountain was open today.  A silly pigeon tried to go for a froggie ride and almost got wet when he fell off!

Tiny Blue Giraffe felt an earthquake!   Our whole building shook – yay for vintage architecture!  Did you guys feel it?  Did you have an earthquake drill this morning at school?  Just in time!

After work bonus:  A second earthquake!  Did someone forget to tell the fault lines that the Great Shakeout is only a drill?!  (Whose fault is it, anyway?)

10/18 - Cornay helps me through a sick day

Lil' Gal's favorite sleeping friend is Cornay, a flying horse she picked out when she was two instead of the doll we intended to get her.  Cornay, in her mind these days, is a male dog who is very brave and handsome... and the hero of all her bedtime stories.

This morning, Lil' Gal told me that Cornay could keep me company today and make me feel better on my sick day.  Awwww.  Here we are catching up on our magazines.
