2/13 - Pinkie Pie gets exposed

Overexposed, even.  We tried to take a picture of her with some mushrooms that sprouted the minute we got some rain around here, but the sun was quite bright.

10/24 - Cloud Guy says, "I am not a baseball!"

We saw a lot of clouds in the sky this morning and were happy that it was not raining. We thought this cloud’s light was very impressive and kept looking back at it.  Cloud Guy wanted to learn this trick -- I can't blame him.

People in the city have baseball on the brain this week.  Oh, yes.  There were a lot of vendors selling Giants things.  Cloud Guy and I did not get anything and went back to work, where people were wearing orange ties or whatnot, a style I call "Giants casual."

9/30 - Weekend fun: Large mouse edition

The highlight of last weekend was Archer's birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese.  Lil' Gal had been begging to go there for.ever.  I hadn't ever been to one with kids (those crazy college days).  So the day had finally come for those two milestones to line up.  The kids had a great time with their BFFs.  I got to follow a large mouse around in a conga line and talk to some adults.  #winning

We also had fun wearing old Halloween costumes around the house.

And riding bikes/skating at the basketball court of the nearby school.  Until we melted.

10/2 - Ashley and PigPig visit the fire station

Ashley tried to stand PigPig on this big truck, but her hooves kept sliding off.  Then the fire alarm sounded, so we skedaddled.

It was 92 degrees in San Francisco after work!  How crazy is that?  And what a gorgeous sunset.

10/01 - Beeper gets flying lessons

Beeper saw these pretty pink flowers and insisted I take a picture of her with them or she’d shine her bright light in my eyes.  OK, Beeper.  Here you go.

This friendly dragon on my calendar wants Beeper to be all she can be.  (I want to be outside in the warm weather, but today is too busy.  Boo.)

9/20 - Littlest Monkey dreams of sweet berries

It was warm in the sunshine, so Littlest Monkey curled up in the branches of a nearby bush for a nap. He was dreaming of something sweet to eat, and then when he woke up, he realized he was surrounded by berries.  Sweet.

This sidewalk elevator is very wise indeed.  Can you read what its sign says?

7/11 - Funbo finds a sign of the times

This is usually a “Next Bus” computer sign that tells people when the next bus will arrive. I guess it is broken...

At lunch, Funbo went motorcycle counting. How many do you see? Which one is your favorite? Do you recognize any of the parking space numbers on the ground?

I had to sit out today's derby practice (and last night's scrimmage) due to an injury from Monday's practice. Still, I felt bad for the grrrls that had to skate in the 103-degree heat, so I brought orange slices. Here's Mandaryn Crush enjoying her mandarin.

6/29 - Super Mario Card tries to punch holes in the fog

It was so cold and clammy on the BART platform this morning. I think his technique worked – it was sunny by lunchtime!

This lady sat next to me on BART and spent the whole ride in organizing a bag of loud, crinkly receipts. It was hard to take a nap with all that going on. I was irritated!

Bad dog! Put down that cable car! Silly puppy. That is not a toy. You are scaring the tourists.

6/15 - Fumi and Octopus scream for ice cream

There were two ice cream ads – one flavor for each toy.   Don’t these look delicious?

We sat on the rooftop garden for a while at lunchtime to get some fresh air and enjoy the sunshine. Ahhhh. Fumi and Octopus enjoyed the summer sun(dial). (It’s supposed to be super hot this weekend!)

One of Mommy’s coworkers falls asleep a lot and sometimes snores.  He must have a really boring job.  He didn’t even wake up when we took this picture!  Fumi says, "Naptime is over!"

5/11 - Kwazii laps up a cold dessert

It was a perfect day for fro-yo.  Look at the pretty spoons!

5/08 - Blue Ball and the big blue sky

We are having such nice weather in the city this week!  Here, Blue Ball is tempted to race the taxis down California Street.

Blue Ball tried to phone home. The sign told him sternly this was not the time or place. So we’re sending this email instead.  Hi!!

Here are the flowers the twins picked from our garden for tomorrow's teacher appreciation event.  Lil' Gal picked the yellow one and Lil' Guy picked the rose.

5/07 - Fumi wonders why you'd need them at night

Fumi and I went for a walk at lunch and found a nice little house on the top of a hill.  It was too hot to climb up, so we took a picture instead.

I guess if you need rapid typographers at 2am, you better be willing to go ring their doorbell in person and explain yourself.

4/29 - Weekend fun: Pickle edition

This weekend, we enjoyed the warm, sunny weather.  The kids came with me to derby practice, where guest coach Shadow Soldier whipped us into shape, and gave us scrimmaging pointers.

On Saturday, we went to the farmer's market and I went a little veggie crazy.  Turns out the kids are nuts for snow peas!  Between lunch and dinner, they ate them all!  I learned that orange cauliflower is orange all the way through -- stems and all.

Today, despite the racket from the neighbor's roofing project, we soaked up the sun in the backyard.  My favorite moments were reading with the kids on a blanket under the plum tree and chasing them on their bikes in my roller skates.  (Note to self:  Lil' Guy can run faster than I can skate.)

In keeping with our game where we pretended to be a bird family, I made the twins a "worm lunch," with worms of many colors and some grubs (brown rice).  They loved it!

Also, we made @RecipeGirl's bread and butter pickles with cucumbers from the farmer's market.  They are soooo good!

4/22 - Weekend Fun: Hot weather and Angry Birds edition

This was a hot weekend -- temperatures in the 90's.  (Didn't we just have hail last week?)  OK.  Time to bust out the sprinkler!

And we went to an Angry Birds birthday party!  Lil' Guy made some friends.

We also got our garden started.  Between "baby plants" and seeds, we're hoping to grow:  Italian green beans, red peppers, zucchini, tomatoes, strawberries, beets, carrots, Swiss Chard, and cauliflower.  They are all planted now and I was really happy to go to work and just.sit on Monday.

4/20 - Bouncy Ball springs into summertime

Lil' Gal's sign says “spring weather,” but it’s all summer out there today!

This strange plant had berries that were round like Bouncy Ball.

As much as I loved today's weather at lunchtime, it was quite another story to head back to the East Bay for my first derby practice in three weeks.  It was 80+ degrees at 7pm, and we had to "build a b*tch" for 20 minutes.  Oy.  No photos of all of that!  Move along...

4/01 - weekend fun, April Fool's edition

We were graced by the visit of my BFF/old roommate Anne and her oldest daughter Rowan on Saturday.  Despite the rain, we had a good time making a mural, baking chocolate chip cookies, and finding a patch of sunshine to take a walk to the playground.  It was soooo good to see them!!

This year was the first year the twins really got into April Fool's Day.  We decided to surprise Mama by pretending the kids' homework wasn't done, wearing our shirts backwards, and switching the kitchen stools and the dining room chairs, among other pranks. (Look out! There's a spider on your shoulder!)  If there was ever a holiday made for Lil' Guy, this was it.

Then it was time for my derby team's photo shoot.  I've been a pirate for some time, a skater for a little while, but to combine the two took a little thought.  If nothing else, I had a great time.

When I got home, everyone was pretending to be someone else for a prank.  Lil' Guy asked me to be a dog with him (Lil' Gal's shtick).  Mama wanted me to play Mario Brothers with her (Lil' Guy's favorite thing). And Lil' Gal freaked out from stage fright and hid in the TV room.  (Which was not unlike Mama and her Facebook game hobby.)

3/28 - Sauci Dog likes sunshine

I was worried that they were going to take the fountain out, but it looks like it’s being repaired after all.  Phew!  Woof!

Sauci Dog and I met Audrey from my old work for lunch today.  The sun came out when we saw her.  Awww.

And then it was back to work for us.
