2/28 - Caiman crunches on pugliese

It was a chilly 43 degrees on the way into work today. Made me long for a hot tub, and Caiman dreamed of Hawaii.
Dana made some delicious bread and brought it in to work to share. It makes the salad I got at the cafeteria into a real lunch!

Caiman has a new friend -- Pirate Bob the Builder is back at my desk!

2/25 - Reader, we ran for the hills

The last time we got away for a weekend together without kids, it was early 2008.  Thanks to our friends, we were able to enjoy a getaway this weekend.

It was much more about the "what" than the "where."  While the rest of the Bay Area was a-flutter about snow flurries, we shuffled off to a cottage in the hills, where we hid out and ate cheese, lolled in the hot tub, and fell into 3-hour naps every time we sat down.  I will credit Mama with the Scrabble win and an impressive bingo on her first turn -- right after I'd triumphantly plunked down "JOCKS" for 52 points and thought I was going to win.  (Her word was TWEEZERS, if you must know. Bingo plus triple word.)

Anyway, here's a picture of cheese.  I cannot recommend the sage derby highly enough.  Or the naps.

2/24 - Ollie fights an uphill battle

Ollie* ran up the (block) hill, then slid back down.  Oof!
Ollie heads out.  (Of course, we have work to do at home tonight, but still!  We're outta here!)

* This could actually be Oren, Ollie's identical twin.  Dinosaur Train online references do not indicate how to tell who is who.  http://www.amazon.com/Learning-Curve-Dinosaur-Train-Collectible/dp/B003JQKTI0

2/23 - Winter Penguin tries to blend in

The Federal Reserve has shelves of little banks on display. Winter Pengin wanted to play with them, but we're not allowed to play with decorations.
A million thanks to Dana for bringing me a sandwich!  A starving cube veal is a sad thing to see. (Don't tell Winter Penguin it's egg salad!)

We survived 8 meetings today.  Yay us!

2/22 - Piglet gets lost in love

He tried playing with this pink heart maze, but it's bigger than him! (Typical of love, no?)
Here, the pen is mightier than the piglet.  But not for lack of trying by the piglet!  What a Very Brave Piglet!

2/21 - Presidents are people too

We took the kids to see SNOW on Saturday, and spent the rest of the weekend recovering from that adventure.  (And the extra bonus adventure of getting a flat tire and exhausting the battery a mere 7 miles from home!  We learned that breaking down in the middle of 2 highways with preschoolers will jump you to the top of the queue, but you'll still be in the middle of 2 highways with preschoolers past their bedtime.)

2/18 - Pooh Bear sniffs a star

"It smells of sparkles!" he says.
Pooh is motivated by Positive Thoughts ... and honey, of course.
Later, I couldn't find Pooh.  Linda was playing with him!  He must have followed her out of our meeting.  Silly old bear.
And then it was a 3-day weekend.  Although BART stole 2 hours of it by using 3 of their 5 usual delays -- medical emergency, equipment problem, electrical problem.  (What?  No fire or police activity?  Why not go for a bingo?)

2/17 - Sea Lion and the clammy feet

It was very rainy this morning!  My shoes and pants are STILL wet from the walk to work from BART.  Sea Lion didn't mind.  He wanted to swim in the puddles.
My socks are still wet from this morning!  :(

2/16 - Lady Green M&M and Little Lizard go on a field trip

Lady Green M&M says "Tut tut. It looks like rain."  We didn't get rained on during the morning commute. Yay! And guess who I found in my coat pocket from Friday...  Poor Little Lizard spent the whole weekend in there! Lucky Mommy gets 2 toys today!
Shawn took us, Roe, and Dana out for a pizza lunch!  Yum!!!

2/15 - Waiting for the Tooth Fairy

We've hit a milestone, folks!  A few weeks ago, we noticed that Lil' Gal's bottom front grown-up teeth had come in -- behind the baby teeth!  The internet told us they were called "shark teeth" and the dentist told us there was nothing to worry about.  The teeth got wigglier and wigglier and then, this morning, one came out!  (Lil' Guy is so jealous!)

2/15 - Mr. Bown says "Dibble Dibble Dopp"

My attempt to call into 2 early meetings and rush into work before the 3rd didn't go quite as planned.  Turns out there's not much parking after the morning rush hour, and I missed my train. In my hurry to get out, I also (sigh) forgot to bring a toy with me.  Mama's new spartan car toy policy left me scrambling, but I did find Mr. Brown and his Book of Wonderful Noises in the backseat.  Moo!
His new pirate friend has a tooth out, just like Mae!

2/14 - Red Froggie sees Mac and Cheese and Leaves

Red Froggie says "Happy Valentine's Day!"  We wish you all kinds of sweetness and love.
The dry mac and cheese from the cafe is OK, but leaves without dressing do not equal a salad in my book.

2/11 - Littlest Lizard does the Legal Limbo

We're having blueberry bread for breakfast today.  Littlest Lizard begged for a bite.  He may think the blueberries are bugs!
We are trapped under stacks of densely worded legal documents that are holding our Friday evening hostage.  Help!

2/10 - Green Alien wants to send me to Mars

The movie poster says "Mars needs Moms" and Green Alien tried to get me onto the spaceship.  Silly me -- I took the train into work instead.  (I would miss you guys too much if I went all the way to Mars!)
Illegal Green Alien has gone native.  She says, "I'm a Californian!  I have the sticker to prove it."  Next, she'll want to run for governor...

Sad note:  My BART station is in the middle of the highway.  When I got there tonight, there were a bunch of police cars surrounding someone covered head to toe in a tarp.  Life is short -- sometimes shorter than you intend.  Hug your kids and the people you love every chance you get.

Update:  RIP Lawrence Findley.

2/09 - Green Alien turns pirate

Boxer Alien told Green Alien she should go for a sail on the pirate ship at Mommy's desk, so she did.  Beep Glorp Yarrrrrrrr!
It was mayhem at the burger joint today.  Apparently they accepted a takeout order for 200 burgers during the lunch rush, and then called all hands on deck to fulfill it, leaving the rest of us sitting at tables staring at mayo packets and getting madder and madder.

The burgers came after 1/2 hour (think one Bubble Guppies show) and much complaining from David. We did get a coupon for free burgers next time.  Gleep!

2/08 - Boxer Alien likes a rowdy meeting

It was very windy this morning in the city.  Alien Boxer tried to get a ride on a leaf as it was blowing by, but I stopped him from blowing away.  Phew!
Boxer Alien is a music lover.  When he saw this duo playing in the food court, he cheered and yelled out "Free Bird!" (Unfortunately, they do not take requests.)

Boxer Alien likes a rowdy meeting. He had lots to say! (I put him on mute and practiced my happy Zen face.)

2/07 - Gleep is gleeful

Gleep and I saw some interesting things on the way in to work:  A bus with Mickey Mouse and the Toy Story guys!
And a worker fixing a street light.
Who knew there were so many kinds of mushrooms?  Gleep glorp beep!

2/04 - Tigger and the digger

Tigger bounced right out of the meeting.  Wooo Hoo Hoo Hoo!
Look out, Tigger!!!

2/03 - Green Robot commences escalation

There are always one or more escalators out of service at the train station. Green Robot wanted to help fix this one, but we had to get to a meeting.
Later, Green Robot did the marshmallow dance.  Of course there is a marshmallow dance!

Happy birthday to Grandmother!!!

2/02 - Littlest Fish Swims in a Jello Sea

Littlest Fish enjoys an early morning swim. Blurp! (I do not enjoy an 8am morning meeting, for the record.)
Who knew you could build entire cities out of Jello?!  Visiting one would be like walking around the biggest bouncy house ever!  http://flavorwire.com/148003/liz-hickoks-amazing-jell-o-buildings  WANT!
My work friends rock.  :)

2/01 - Walden waves "hello!"

Hi!
Well, we were able to GET lunch.  However, the eating of it has been an iterative process, managing a bite here and there between meetings.  You guys are a little too young for math, but maybe the grownups can help: If I start eating a salad at 11:30am and finish at 3pm how many bites/hour did I get?

Extra credit:  If meetings x frustration + hungry = postal/Y, what is Y?  And where can I find some?
