9/23 - Weekend fun: Derby championship edition

We had a pretty lazy Saturday last weekend, recovering from a big week in first grade and a lot of meetings at work for Mommy.  Here, the Mario gang goes camping on the moon.  (Dunno -- that's what they told me we were doing.)

It was the West Regional Playoffs, and while the twins have come with me to many a practice, they had yet to see a real bout.  It was time to do something a-bout that.  (heh)

We always like hanging out with Bit O' Honey.

 "Can we go look at the girls?"  Who could say no to that??

David looked very dapper, sporting his black and shiny blingy gold.

In the end, the twins' favorite thing about the bout was the cupcakes.  Oh, well.  What's not to like about  rainbow colored cupcake with glittery frosting?

We did not get to see the Half of Besterns Flash Mob, where refs and friends put the ref hand signals to music, but it was a thing of beauty.

1/17 - Dino Dog sniffs out cars and cats

Dino Dog found a cute little yellow car on the street.  For a minute there, he thought it was a tennis ball to play with!

He also found some cats to bark at.  “What do you mean, ‘elegant and much-loved?’  I love you enough to wear a dino suit!!  Harumph.”

There was a very lovely sunset on the BART ride home.

Then I froze (temperature-wise, not fear-wise!) at derby practice (but learned a lot of good stuff!), and came home to make cupcakes for the twins' birthday on Thursday to send to school.  I was doing a little happy dance, thinking for once it was easier having twins -- I bake one batch of cupcakes one time and voila!  Then I realized that once they're in different classes next year and beyond, it's all over.  It's one day of school birthday baking, but instead of making 30 cupcakes, I'll be making 60.  You may call me Cupcakery.

Stay turned for what I hope is a wonderful 6th birthday party!  My derby sister lent me all her fondant tools and I tried not to be intimidated when she laughed at my question:  "Fondant's just like Play Doh, right?"

1/13 - Eddie and Freddie are on the go

We moved desks at work again this morning.  Freddie offered to hop my pens from one desk to the other, but I was worried he’d get stepped on.

On our way to lunch with Ashley, we saw a cute red car.

Here is Ashley, in front of some crazy statue.

The twins were playing with Play Doh when I got home.  They made me a cake to cheer me up.  How sweet is that?!

Tooth Update:  Last night, Lil' Gal lost her other top front tooth!!  She wanted Mama to see it today, so we hid it from the Tooth Fairy.   Lil' Gal named the tooth "Sam."  Tonight, we're all systems go for the Tooth Fairy!

5/15 - Play Doh hats for manly men

They're a little late for the Easter bonnet contest, but still.  Aren't they lovely?

I'm looking forward to the day that all of our Play Doh doesn't end up being this "color."

Tip!  If your Play Doh gets dried out, add a little bit of water to it.  Presto!  Good as new.

3/13 - Bitsy's head returns

When toys break around our house, they are sometimes thrown out.  More often, we keep all the bits and play with them still.  It's a little macabre, all these severed limbs and heads and whatnot, but it's what we do.

Here, we see the head of Bitsy, featured in a Play Doh project where she's given a new body... and a wheelchair.  Heavens to Bitsy!
