Angry Birds - Office Halloween Decorations

I realized I never came back and posted an update to the great paper mache project of 2016.  I learned that Modge Podge is nice, but that old school flour and water pinata paste is the way to go for large-scale projects (and much cheaper!).  And while I didn't get to hang my birds so they appeared to fly, they did turn out pretty well.

3/13 - Darth Maul commandeers my new desk

We went to check out my new desk, and Darth Maul tried to fly it like a spaceship!  (It would not start.)

3/12 - Darth Maul is a social climber

He saw Sheldor climbing around the crabitat, and thought he'd say hello.  Sheldor thought Darth Maul's shell was the best decorated shell ever.

Then, Darth Maul was feeling pretty as he admired the fragrant blooms of the nectarine tree.  Spring will do that to you.

3/11 - Darth Maul - now extra minty!

I suggested Darth Maul might enjoy a mint, so he dove right into a bag of them in the kitchen at work.  Ahhhh.  Refreshing!

3/10 - Darth Maul is not an attack strawberry

A coworker heard me sniffling and handed me this packet of fizzy vitamin C to take.  I put Darth Maul next to it for the picture and told him he kinda looked like a strawberry.  He did NOT like that.

2/20 - What is it with Stormtrooper Piggie and boxes?

He's obssessed, I tell you.

2/19 - Stormtrooper Piggie needs glasses

He thought these neatly lined bumps were an army and tried to join the formation!

2/18 - Stormtrooper Piggie goes boxing

He made quite a fortress with the moving boxes on my floor.  I hope it won’t annoy my coworkers when they fall down!

1/17 - Chuck Chuck goose

I think the angry birds are trying to camouflage themselves on my desk…

(Who knew I had so many yellow things?)

1/10 - Qui-Gon Jinn proves to be quite handy around the house

(Oh, this is still a kid-related blog.  You're in the right spot.  No worries.)

It turns out that Qui-Gon Jinn is very good at counting out the scoops of coffee.

But not so good at trying to fly a container of cherry tomatoes.  Go figure.

1/09 - Emperor Piglatine and the Wall of Minions

I can see why you’d want an army of minions to do your bidding, but something tells me these minions are not happy about working for Emperor Piglatine and his Dog Collar of Doom.

3/08 - Stormtrooper Piggie tries on some dinosaur legs

They were even faster than he thought they'd be, as they were on the side of a moving bus!  Go, go baggy legs!

This guy is clearly on the angry birds' side...  Watch out, Stormtrooper!  (He's OK.)

2/28 - Green Piggie cannot reach the pedals

Still, it was a very nice bike.

Green Piggie found some street wisdom...  Something we should all strive for, especially when there are angry birds determined to topple us.

2/27 - Green Piggie looks in trees for eggs

Well, that was his plan, but these baby redwoods were too tall for him to climb.

Here, Green Piggie goes artsy.  The bricks remind him of the blocks he uses in the Angry Birds game.

2/26 - Green Piggie better watch it

There are some new angry birds in town, and they know how to use the Force.

2/25 - Green Piggie finds an angry computer

Or maybe it was me that was green with a case of the Mondays…  One of these days, I really should call the help desk.

Here, Green Piggie curls up in Buddha's lap.  Sounds like one of the best nap spots on heaven or earth… (I didn’t realize that Buddha had a man parrot on his shoulder!)

1/20 - Angry Birds Birthday Party

My little guys are not so little anymore...  This weekend, the twins turned SEVEN (7) years old.  They are fast-paced gangly people with strong opinions and fierce imaginations that still let me hug and kiss them up at will.    #love  This year, they wanted an Angry Birds Star War party.  Super cool, but there isn't much merch out there to buy yet.  Not that this was going to stop me...

Nor was their teacher's request to only send healthy snacks (no cupcakes!)...  Inspired by the post at bentology, I made piggie spinach tortilla sandwiches with garden cream cheese spread and not-healthy candy eyes.  The birds were crackers and provolone cheese, with carrot beaks, not-healthy candy eyes, and seaweed eyebrows.  Crouching Mother, Hidden Toddler's tutorial for painting cheese is here.

For the party, I built a live action Angry Birds game.  I covered boxes with butcher's paper to make them look uniform, got some piggie stuffies from the party store, and ordered some new Angry Birds Star Wars stuffies to throw at them and knock them all down.  The kids worked as a team to build up the structures and took turns hurling the angry birds.

Next, I wanted to make an Angry Birds bowling game, but my attempts with the paint I had were not successful.  Happily, Mama had some plastic bowling pins on hand, so we used those and a ball I meant to draw a bird face onto, but I ran out of time.  The kids never noticed the lapse in theme and loved the game, so I'm going to count it as a win.

Our last game was a variation on Hot Potato -- Pass the Angry Bird.  Whoever was left with the bird in hand when the music stopped "got exploded."  We played three rounds!

Then, it was time for cupcakes!  You can use my cupcake topper template.

1/18 - Green Jack is not a dog toy

We were delighted to learn today that packing peanuts come in the same color as Green Jack.

This little doggie wished Green Jack were bigger and a squeaky toy.  Green Jack wished to move along…

Speaking of green, how do you like the snacks I made for the twins' school birthday celebration?  They can forbid cupcakes (srslywtf), but they can't forbid fun!
