Wonder what I've been doing while I've been out sick for eons? Updating my family photo site, researching stuff online, catching up on reading, etc. Here's Madagascar Penguin (formerly Tacky) next to my "to read" pile.
Every day, my 12th grade twins give me a toy to bring to work. I send home pictures of how the toy is "helping" me, and then save them to this blog. (OK, obviously, we are not really doing this anymore. Teenagers, amiright?) It definitely makes work more fun. For me -- I can't speak for the poor toy. Please do not use any of my images or writing without contacting me for permission.

4/27 - One of many "pet snails"
Lil' Gal is crazy about bugs and creepy crawlies. She adopts worms and carefully relocates them to spots in the garden she thinks is more suitable for them, and begs us daily to go out front so she can "pick some snails." Lucky for her, rain makes them come out in droves and even peek from the doorway into the house. (shudder)

4/26 - Goblin Stick (and still sick. Ick.)!
The kids came in from outside, all excited to show me the "goblin stick" they'd found. Seems that this ordinary stick was used by a tiny goblin as a walking stick. OK.
Guest photog David sent these pretty flowers he saw over the weekend.

4/23 - My three Doras
Today was another sick day, where I sat around wheezing and trying not to do anything useful around the house. Lil' Gal lined up her three Doras to keep me company at the computer.

4/21 - Fireplug in drag
From guest Minion photog David: a Very Shiny fire hydrant.
(Yes, I'm still sick. Feh.)
History lesson:
It's been painted gold because it saved San Francisco from the Great Fire 100 years ago.

4/15 - Puff the Magic Mommy
The ideal of getting rest while working at home was not what happened Thursday. What happened instead were meetings from 9:30am - 4:30pm, and whatever breaks there were between were filled with buckets of workity work.
Here's my breakfast of champions. NOM. suck suck suck.
I did not even get to call the doctor until 4:30. At that point, it was too late to get me in for a breathing treatment at the office, so they had me go to the emergency room. I was there for about 6 hours, getting 2 rounds of chest x-rays and 2 breathing treatments. I officially have pneumonia and laryngitis.
Cab driver home was funny: "How's your night going? Good?"
Me: "Sure! Everyone loves a good visit to the E.R."
(quiet ride home)

4/14 - Say, say! What does this say?
More working from home with god-awful sickness, me and the spouse. Here's a nice long word one (or both?) or the kids did on the washer. I like how it piles up at the top, kinda like the laundry baskets.

4/13 - Juice Car sees someone very silly
No, it wasn't That Silly Doug. It was someone in an ad doing a silly jump.
The rest of the day was not silly at all. The Meeting, my only reason for going into work in such bronchial distress, was cancelled at the last minute! Oh? And it's been helpfully rescheduled for Friday. At 8:30am. Thank you for your flexibility. Yes, turning people into limp noodles will help with that.
Side note: If the tags for meetings and sick are getting larger in size than the ones for friends and pirates, something.must.be.done. I'm just saying.

4/12 - Meetings are always better with ice cream
Today, Lil' Gal picked out a toy to keep me company as I worked from home with the intent of keeping my coughing to myself. "You can have it for a snack!" So sweet. If only I had an appetite.

4/09 - Polar Bear looks at homes in the city
It was a day full of meetings. Polar Bear looked at igloos and other dwellings while I was on a call.
The highlight of our day was lunch with Liz and That Silly Doug.

4/08 - This fire truck is not a toy
I worked from home yesterday so Mama and Lil' Guy could get to their doctor appointments. Diagnosed with early pneumonia (her) and a double ear infection (him). While they were out, Lil' Gal and I saw a fire truck in front of the neighbors' house! Oh, the excitement!
Oh, and I got a bonus chest x-ray -- no pneumonia for me, "just" bronchitis. We now have a bingo -- all family members are on an inhaler regimen. Joy.

4/07 - Builder the Pirate finds himself
Some of my pirate toys are at another desk I call the Pirate Annex. I went with Builder the Pirate (so named because Lil' Guy thought his sword was a saw) to see what we could find. He took a wild ride on the pop-up pirate ship. Yarrr!
Later, Builder found himself. Not in a new age kind of way, but more literally. In photos of the twins, Lil' Guy is holding him and yelling Arrrrrrr!

4/06 - Pirate Sparklenose hijacks the meeting
Sparklenose put on a pirate hat, and suddenly she was all business!
Take a note! Out of scope! Show me the money! YARRRRRR!
(OK, not really. But that would've been way cool.)
These circles are on a grate at the bottom of a tree by my work. Don't tell her, but Sparklenose is also kinda round.

4/05 - Buster's so cool, he's gotta wear shades
There were big puffy clouds at the train station this morning, but when Buster and I got to work, it was all rain. The twins told me there was hail at the house today!
Silly Buster tried to wear my sunglasses. I think they're a little big...
Michael (who had the sunglasses idea in the first place) made Buster his very own sunglasses! They even match his collar.
The twins (and Mama) were fascinated with these when we got home.
UPDATE 4/06: Since Ashley worked from home yesterday, we missed this Very Appropriate phrase of the day. Her calendar often does this. (cue eerie music)

4/02 - Warthog/Dartdog
It was a grey and foggy morning, but leave it to Warthog/Dartdog to find a patch of spring.
We took a field trip with the team to Tu Lan for cheap delicious Vietnamese food.
Then, we got to see Nicole (welcome back!), Vanessa (happy birthday!) and a bunch of other friends, some who came to the house this afternoon to play with the twins while we were at work.

4/01 - Car #8 meets the Doggie Diner doggies!
Car #8 was excited to beep at the traffic on the way into work. Honk! Honk!
At lunch, we saw a funny little yellow car and the doggies from the Doggie Diner. A rare treat!
