1/31 - Shopping Cart Dog meets a famous bird

Shopping Cart Dog made friends with a golden dragon.  The dragon wanted to share her gold coin with SC Dog, but we couldn’t figure a way to get it out of the poster.  Rats!
SC Dog met a nice little parakeet today while we were out for lunch.  Her name is Patricia Dolores Bird (or PD Bird). People like to take pictures of her for the computer too!  Look:  http://pdbird.tumblr.com.

We’ll send her owner our pictures tonight and see if they show up on her website.  Won’t that be fun?

1/30 - Shopping Cart Dog sniffs out some tasty lunch

Shopping Cart Dog (shown here post-cart extraction) wanted to bring these gold coins home to add to our collection, but these were (I think) real gold, unlike our collection of plastic booty. Sorry, doggie!
I left in such a hurry this morning that I forgot to pack a lunch!  Happily, the JapaCurry truck was right down the street.  SC Dog sniffed it out for me.  Now I am sniffling from the spicy curry!
Derby update:  Had a great practice --in sunshine!-- yesterday, but took a few bad spills.  Now I'm nursing that darn knee and the infamous bruised tailbone injury.  Youch.

1/27 - Doctor Luigi to the rescue!

Luigi tells sick Lil' Guy to feel better soon.  In Italian, “Fretta!”  (“Hurry.”)
We wanted to send  Lil' Guy and  Lil' Gal some smiles from work, so Luigi tickled me under my chin to make me laugh!  Tee hee.
Sickie update:  Lil' Guy is doing much better today and is eating some gentle solids.  Yay!!

1/26 - Piglet, Pac Man, pigeons, and puking

It's the four P's today.

Piglet found Pac Man's nemesis (what's the plural? nemeses?) plastered to a window.
Piglet found a passel of pigeons.
Piglet and I came home to find Lil' Guy had been sent home sick from school.  While Mama's out with Uncle Bobby, we got to take over puke patrol.  Poor peanut.

1/25 - Trophy thinks she's a sippy cup

I keep telling her that trophies are filled with glory, not stuff to drink, but she doesn’t listen.

1/24 - Piglets for peace

Piglet is a peaceful pink pal.  Perfect!
Piglet missed all the balloons at home, so I found him one tied to a sign on the street.  He tried to stand on it, but –Whoa!– found it quite slippery.  P-p-p-poor Piglet.

1/23 - Dragon says "Happy New Year" to Koopa Troopa

Koopa Troopa saw the service dog’s uniform and knew not bother him because he was working.  Good boy, Koopa Troopa!
Don’t worry – this is not a scary dragon.  He is happy that it’s Chinese New Year and wants to invite Koopa Troopa to eat moon cakes.
Birthday Party Update:  I survived, despite having the power go out in the midst of my first foray into fondant.   My helpers and I pulled off a great party (thank you!!!), and the twins and their friends had a great time.  Once I wade through all the photos we took, I'll put together a special post so you can be very impressed.  (Or have photographic evidence of my insanity.)

1/20 - Yellow Yoshi yearns for hula hoops

Yes, I said hula hoops.  We saw a stack (?) of them on BART today.  Yoshi wanted to try one out, but the aisles were too small.
Poor little Yoshi looked sad standing on my desk.  (I think he misses Lil' Gal.)  So we went for a walk to get some more cold medicine to cheer him up.  All we found was a bunch of rain.  Bleah.
Note for grown-ups:  We also found a slew of protesters and a MUNI bus with destination “SPECIAL,” filled with SFPD in riot gear heading to the Occupy protests.  Funsies.

Birthday Update:  The twins' super 6th Mario birthday party is tomorrow.  I have a zillion things to do and am tempted to put on my skates to see if I can get them done faster.  Wish me luck!

1/19 - Birthdays and Koopa Troopa and Cupcake Wars

We found a giant paint can and paint brush on the sidewalk.  Koopa Troopa said, “I’m afraid of giants!  Yikes!”  (I told him it was only a decoration.)  Koopa Troopa said, "Don't paint me green!"
Oh, by the way…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

How did your friends like the cupcakes?
Cupcake Update:  My plan to have the cupcakes dropped off in the morning for extra ogling (and their own sweet loveliness) paid off.  All but about 3 kids chose MY cupcakes over the interloper's cupcakes -- including the birthday interloper herself!  Booya!

Birthday Update:  My wee twins are SIX YEARS OLD today.  It seems like yesterday when I'd pick them up by the straps of their overalls and walk around with them, like dual tote bags.  Sniff!

1/18 - Mario says "Hide!" to Bob-omb

We saw the big black SF Bomb Squad truck on the way into work. Good thing I didn’t bring “Bomb the Bomb” with me today!
Mario said, "It's Mario Time! Let's race!" But once again, the motorbike owner has not left us the keys…
So Mario challenged me to a running race instead.  He won, and said, “Oh yeah!  Uh huh!”
Mario and I took a quick walk to Chinatown, where everyone’s getting ready for Chinese New Year.
On the way back, the police were clearing the streets – somebody important was coming through!  The Vice President of our country was having a big lunch meeting at a building near my work. There was a small parade of police officers on motorcycles, cars filled with people in Very Important Uniforms, vans filled with soldiers, and other cars filled with diplomat/suit types.  Somewhere in all of that was our Vice President – we think we saw him!  (Mario waved.)
What an exciting walk!

Birthday Update:  I cannot believe that tomorrow morning, my wee little twins will be six (6) years old.  My goodness.  (I also cannot believe that another classmate is insisting on bringing in cupcakes tomorrow, when we called it a week ago!)

1/17 - Dino Dog sniffs out cars and cats

Dino Dog found a cute little yellow car on the street.  For a minute there, he thought it was a tennis ball to play with!
He also found some cats to bark at.  “What do you mean, ‘elegant and much-loved?’  I love you enough to wear a dino suit!!  Harumph.”
There was a very lovely sunset on the BART ride home.
Then I froze (temperature-wise, not fear-wise!) at derby practice (but learned a lot of good stuff!), and came home to make cupcakes for the twins' birthday on Thursday to send to school.  I was doing a little happy dance, thinking for once it was easier having twins -- I bake one batch of cupcakes one time and voila!  Then I realized that once they're in different classes next year and beyond, it's all over.  It's one day of school birthday baking, but instead of making 30 cupcakes, I'll be making 60.  You may call me Cupcakery.

Stay turned for what I hope is a wonderful 6th birthday party!  My derby sister lent me all her fondant tools and I tried not to be intimidated when she laughed at my question:  "Fondant's just like Play Doh, right?"

1/13 - Eddie and Freddie are on the go

We moved desks at work again this morning.  Freddie offered to hop my pens from one desk to the other, but I was worried he’d get stepped on.

On our way to lunch with Ashley, we saw a cute red car.
Here is Ashley, in front of some crazy statue.
The twins were playing with Play Doh when I got home.  They made me a cake to cheer me up.  How sweet is that?!
Tooth Update:  Last night, Lil' Gal lost her other top front tooth!!  She wanted Mama to see it today, so we hid it from the Tooth Fairy.   Lil' Gal named the tooth "Sam."  Tonight, we're all systems go for the Tooth Fairy!

1/12 - Waiter! There's a pink penguin in my soup!

We saw Toy Story characters on the bus and Pinkie Penguin wanted to go for a ride with them.  But we went to work instead.  Sorry, Pinkie!
Pinkie and I went to a team lunch today, and she hopped onto the waiter’s tray for a ride.  Penguins are silly!

1/11 - Pinkie Penguin picks pistachio

This little skate pin was just the right size for Pinkie to take a ride around my desk.  Whee!!
We went to check out the new bakery/sandwich shop in the neighborhood.  They had rows and rows of pretty cookies. (We did not partake.  This time.)
Pinkie Penguin and I went to a party after work. Pinkie thought the cake pops looked like eggs and wanted to try to hatch them.  (The pink ones were red velvet – yum.)
And then!  Pinkie found some friends at the party.  These little doves cooed and made laughing sounds when they saw us.  (Hey!  My 80’s outfit wasn’t THAT funny!)

1/10 - Yoshi flees from technical difficulties

System reboot?  Run, Yoshi, run!!
Fire Sprinkler whistles at how fast Yoshi can run.  Go, Yoshi, Go!

1/09 - Princess Peach and the pots of hot

Princess Peach tries for an audience with the Queen.  "Excuse me?  Your Majesty?  Prince Philip?  Helloooo? Nice hats, by the way…"
Princess Peach hopped up on these pretty little pots and started singing “I’m a little teapot” until we told her they were pots of hot sauce. She said, “Oh my!” and hopped right down.  (Or as we like to say, she hot-footed it right out of there.)
Princess Peach says, "Whoa! Slippery!" Or maybe the cone is warning people of the dangers of bouncy houses?  (The cone is no one to talk about danger – he has clearly had a blow to the head!)

1/06 - David tries fishing with Squeaky Toy

Apparently, all he can catch are large frogs!
Look!  Squeaky Toy caught a horse.  We were NOT expecting that!

1/05 - Cap'n Hook and Pirate Bunny sing sea chanteys

I am again reading Very Important Documents and had to ask them to use their indoor voices.
It seems pirates do not have indoor voices.  Especially after they’ve had some grog.  You'd think I would know better.

1/04 - Shy Guy has secret dreams of being a mail carrier

Shy Guy peeks out.  Look at him trying to hide in the grass…  He is so shy!
Here, he's lurking in the alley.  He peeked out for some lunch, then hid again.  Did I mention that he is shy?
Apparently, Shy Guy has secret dreams of being a postal carrier.  If only his little feet could reach the gas pedal.  (And we had the key…)

1/03 - Princess Daisy loves a parade

She said, “A parade?  Just for little ol’ me?  Why, thank you!”  (Princesses are very polite, you know.)
The daisies on this card look just like the one on her brooch!
Princess Daisy is getting bored with my work.  She is tapping her foot impatiently in her pretty princess slipper.  “Can we go now?”

1/01 - Happy New Year!

Wishing you all a 2012 filled with love, health and happiness.

12/30 - Squeaky Toy is underdressed

These doggies are all dressed up for a New Year’s party!  Squeaky Toy squeaked, “Yikes!  I’m not wearing any clothes!”  I told him that toy bones don’t usually wear any clothes – they’d get all soggy when the dog chews on them.  He squeaked a sigh of relief.
When Squeaky Toy looked out the window, he said, “Tut tut.  It looks like rain.”  (He was right!)
We saw these little fellas on the way to meet Linda for dinner.  They looked hungry too.
Here's Linda.  She thought Squeaky Toy was a bow tie.  Silly Linda!
